Chile and Mainland China Hold Economic Dialogue and Trade Talks

Chile and mainland China recently held a second round of strategic economic dialogue talks as well as a third round of discussions on the expansion of their bi-lateral free trade agreement. Issues addressed during the economic dialogue meeting included progress made by the working groups on mining co-operation, infrastructure, energy, innovation and technology. Additionally, Chilean and mainland Chinese officials approved the creation of a new strategic alignment group. The trade talks yielded the successful conclusion of negotiations on trade in services, rules of origin, customs procedures and trade facilitation, competition, government procurement, e-commerce, the environment, and technical and economic co-operation. The negotiations on market access for goods are expected to be wrapped up in September following the conclusion of technical discussions.
