China-Peru FTA Modernisation Discussions to Begin in April
Peruvian Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Edgar Vásquez announced on 24 January that the discussions to upgrade Peru’s bi-lateral free trade agreement with mainland China will begin in April. These negotiations are aimed at maximising the benefits of the FTA in order to further strengthen what is already a vibrant trade relationship. In force since 1 March 2010, the FTA has helped bi-lateral trade grow at an average of ten percent per year over the past nine years. From January-November 2017 to January-November 2018, bi-lateral trade grew by 15 percent to more than US$20 billion.
