Colombia Extends Deadline to Comply with Amended Apparel and Footwear Labelling Requirements

Colombia in September 2015 amended its labelling requirements for footwear, apparel of Chapters 61 and 62, leather apparel of heading 4203, and products of heading 4202 and Chapter 63. Among other things, the new apparel labelling regulations require the country of origin, the name of the producer and/or importer, and fibre and care information to be on a permanent label. In the case of footwear, only the country of origin and information on the footwear materials (i.e., upper, lining and outsole) will be required to be on a permanent label. The amended regulations were slated to enter into force on 23 December 2015 but the effective date has been extended until 23 March 2016.
