Colombia Provides Duty-Free Treatment to LED Lamps, Certain Agricultural Products

Colombia has created special tariff breakouts for and provided duty-free treatment on an MFN basis effective from 11 April to light-emitting diode lamps and lighting fittings classified under HTSCO 9405.10.1010, 9405.10.2010, 9405.10.9010, 9405.40.1110, 9405.40.1910 and 9405.40.9010. This action one of several measures taken by the Colombian government to tackle a domestic energy crisis.

Separately, the Colombian government approved in early March temporary duty suspensions for lentils, beans and garlic imported under several tariff lines within headings 0713 and 0703. The duty suspensions will be in place through until 30 June. Additionally, Colombia has suspended until 29 August its tariffs on crude palm oil and crude soy oil of headings 1501, 1502, 1503, 1506, 1507, 1508, 1511, 1512, 1513, 1514, 1515, 1516, 1517, 1518 and 3823. According to Decree 343/2016, this tariff relief was adopted partly in response to concerns regarding price inflation in Colombia.
