Electronic Licencing System Now Available for Wildlife Importers

As of 2 October, individuals and companies that import or export wildlife for commercial purposes may use the Fish and Wildlife Service’s new eLicense system to apply for the required FWS licence or renew or amend a current or expired licence. No special software is required and no additional fees are charged for using this system.

FWS states that the eLicense system facilitates clearance of wildlife imports and exports by allowing users to store data for future use and communicate by email with FWS licence issuers. However, the FWS will continue to accept and process traditional paper applications, which must be submitted to an FWS wildlife inspection office or an Office of Law Enforcement Permits Office.
