Mexico Temporarily Extends Tariff-Rate Quota for Meat of Swine

Mexico has temporarily extended through a regulation issued on 22 March a tariff-rate quota for meat of swine classified under HTSMX 0203.12.01, 0203.19.99, 0203.21.01, 0203.22.01 and 0203.29.99. In-quota imports will benefit from duty-free treatment up to a 240,000 tonne limit from 1 April through 30 June 2019, while out-of-quota merchandise will be subject to a regular MFN rate of 20 percent. The TRQ extension is aimed at correcting a lack of domestic supply by improving overall supply conditions while protecting Mexican consumers.
