Miscellaneous Latin American AD Actions on Mainland Chinese Products
Argentina Begins AD Investigation on Electric Ovens. Argentina has initiated an antidumping duty investigation on certain motors of the kind used in washing machines classified under NCM 8501.10.29, 8501.10.30, 8501.20.00 and 8501.40.19 from mainland China. The investigation covers the following washing machine motors: (1) alternating current, single-phase, asynchronous motors for a voltage of at least 110 but no greater than 240, and a power of at least 37.5 watts but no greater than 750 watts; and (2) universal electric motors for the same voltage range and of the same power range. The investigation could result in the imposition of AD duties for a period five years.
Argentina Issues Results of AD Anti-Circumvention Reviews of Sunglasses and Frames for Glasses. Argentina has determined that (1) certain sunglasses classified under NCM 9004.10.00 that are produced by Taiwan’s Sunmax Optical Co. Ltd. and Chin Win Industrial Co. Ltd., exported to Argentina by Taiwan’s Sunmax Optical Co. Ltd. and imported into Argentina by Montagne Outdoors S.A. are not circumventing the AD duty order on subject merchandise from mainland China; (2) certain sunglasses classified under NCM 9004.10.00 that are produced and exported to Argentina by Taiwan’s Ieyewears Co. Ltd. and imported into Argentina by Acmetal S.A. are not circumventing the AD duty order on subject merchandise from the mainland; and (3) certain metal and plastic frames for glasses as well as certain sunglasses classified under NCM 9003.11.00, 9003.19.10 and 9004.10.00 that are exported to Argentina by Uruguay’s Mota de Souza, Denis Fernando are circumventing the AD duty order on subject merchandise from the mainland.
Brazil Sets Deadline for Final AD Determination on Cast Iron Pipe. Brazil has set 16 September as the deadline for DECOM to issue a final determination in its AD investigation of certain mainland Chinese cast iron pipe classified under NCM 7303.00.00.
