U.S. Customs User Fees Increased for Inflation

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a final rule adjusting the following customs user fees and limitations for inflation for fiscal year 2019. These adjusted fees will be required as of 1 October 2018.

  • commercial vessel arrival: US$458.35 per arrival/US$6245.97 annual cap (up from US$448.70/US$6,114.46)

  • barge and other bulk carrier arrival: US$115.37 per arrival/US$1,573.29 annual cap (up from US$112.95/US$1,540.17)

  • commercial lorry arrival: US$5.75 per arrival/US$104.89 annual cap (up from US$5.65/US$102.68)

  • rail car arrival: US$8.65 per arrival/US$104.89 annual cap (up from US$8.47/US$102.68)

  • private vessel or aircraft first arrival/calendar year pre-payment: US$28.84 (up from US$28.24)

  • dutiable mail: US$5.77 (up from US$5.65)

  • commercial vessel or aircraft passenger arrival: US$5.77 (up from US$5.65)

  • customs broker permit: US$144.74 (up from US$141.70)

  • express consignment carrier/centralised hub facility, per individual waybill/bill of lading: US$0.37 minimum/US$1.05 maximum (up from US$0.36/US$1.03)

  • merchandise processing: minimum US$26.22/maximum US$508.70 (up from US$25.67/US$497.99)

  • surcharge for manual entry or release: US$3.15 (up from US$3.08)

  • informal entry or release not prepared by CBP personnel: US$2.10 automated/US$6.29 manual (up from US$2.05/US$6.16)

  • informal entry or release prepared by CBP personnel: US$9.44 (up from US$9.24)
